This is Intel's 8th generation CPU platform, and a full 5 iterations into the 14nm revolution. Coffee Lake is at the sweet-spot where ultra low cost, reliability, and capability, meet. With the i3 at the least expensive end of this line-up, it soars high in resulting value.

Intel also packed in bonus technologies. Their superior on-chip 4K GPU eliminates the need for an external video card, and it is powerful enough to watch 4K movies on Netflix.

The CPU is also known for its high sustained single-core speed, which is the most important performance attribute to get through tough bottlenecks. Surprisingly, the i3 pushes a bit past both the i5 and i7 in raw single core processing. On the flip-side it lacks improved DDR4 support and turbo (these features are only found in the i5 and i7).

With the i3's 4 cores and 4 hyperthreads you also have sufficient parallel processing for most purposes.

For these reasons we are convinced that this CPU produces more affordable value than any other CPU.

This i3 cannot overclock. Intel CPU's that overclock have a higher wattage and a "K" or "KF" at the end of the model number. Overclocking works against our business philosophy.
